INTERVIEW
RXYM Fashion:

We all know that Royce Gracie changed fighting with Jiu Jitsu at UFC 1 back in 1993. Have you seen those early fights? How has MMA changed since those early fights?

Greg:

Yes, I have those fights on DVD. MMA has changed for the better over the last 15 years because fighters are diverse in their skills, instead of focusing on one aspect of fighting they have mixed the martial arts to complete their game.

RXYM Fashion:

What did you have to do to obtain your blue belt and how close are you to earning your purple belt?

Greg:

I was training hard for months and one day my instructor gave it to me, purple belt is a ways away.

RXYM Fashion:

What do you think of Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and Kung Fu? Is that stuff legit or what?

Greg:

Those martial arts are legit and people who study those get my respect, but Jiu-Jitsu is just a different game. Where else can you choke someone out into submission?

RXYM Fashion:

Describe your mentality before a BJJ tournament?

Greg:

Focused.

RXYM Fashion:

Have you ever bodyboarded? Most of the RXYM XRMY are watermen.. how do you know these guys?

Greg:

Yes I have bodyboarded, but I'm not a strong swimmer. I know most of the RXYM team through good friendships.

RXYM Fashion:

So, you train with Allen Newsome at the Boxing Club in Carlsbad.. can you tap him out on command?

Greg:

He's a tough guy and our styles match up well. It's back and forth.

RXYM Fashion:

In your opinion, who is the best BJJ guy of all time?

Greg:

Rickson Gracie, never backs down.

RXYM Fashion:

Top 5 MMA guys, any division, any organization.. go?

Greg:

Dan Henderson, Anderson Silva, Baby Jay Penn, Urijah Faber, Rampage Jackson.

RXYM Fashion:

Goals for 2008 in your BJJ endeavors?

Greg:

To train hard and start competing.

RXYM Fashion:

Any last words or shout outs?

Greg:

Stay greasy!
